FAQ

  • Do I need a GP referral?

    No. You can request an appointment directly. If you are using private medical insurance, check whether your insurer requires a referral before you book.

  • What happens at my first appointment?

    Your consultant takes a history, examines the problem and discusses the options with you. Some patients start treatment straight away; many take time to consider the options first.  Procedures, laser and surgery are planned and booked separately. Tell us when booking if you have more than one concern.

  • Can I have treatment on the same day?

    For some low-risk skin lesions, yes, if arranged in advance. We usually need photographs first so the consultant can confirm suitability. Surgery, laser and eyelid procedures are planned after assessment and booked separately.

  • How soon can I be seen?

    Initial assessments are usually available within 2 to 3 weeks.

  • How much does it cost?

    Assessment fees are listed on our pricing page so you know the cost before you book. Treatment fees are confirmed once your plan is agreed after assessment. Indicative treatment fees are provided on our pricing page and on the treatment pages.

  • Can I use private medical insurance?

    We accept insurance for skin lesions and suspected skin cancer. We are recognised by the major insurers. You will need a pre-authorisation number before you book. Other assessments and treatments, including medical dermatology, laser and eyelid surgery, are self-funded.

  • Do you see children?

    Yes. Children are seen by consultant paediatric dermatologists. Certain procedures are carried out in older children, usually over 12 years.
